The First Week
Well, I've officially started my internship and I've been on the job for a week now! It's a very awesome feeling to be an employee of ESPN! I think the coolest thing is when a famous athlete or ESPN personality walks right by me in the same hallway. On my first day, former NFL coach turned NFL Analyst Mike Ditka passed me in the hallway during our 1st day tour of the building! I was awe-struck just like the rest of the interns!! The coolest thing is when a SportsCenter anchor parks right next to me! It makes me realize that they are just normal people doing their job!
My 2nd day there was actually my 1st day in my new position, which is in the content edit department. My job is to take the video that a Production Assistant wants for a show and make adjustments to it, such as putting the clips in order, making sure that all the colors in the video will look fine on any television (whether it's high definition or standard definition), make sure the audio is clear and not too loud or too soft, and to make sure that all the clips in a highlight run smoothly together. Highlights that I have edited have been on shows such as SportsCenter, NASCAR Now, College Football Live, and even on ESPN Deportes (ESPN's Spanish channel)! It is the coolest experience to see something that you've edited show up on live television for MILLIONS to see!!!! So, the next time you watch ESPN, just remember that I might have edited that!!!!
Well, I'm going to wrap up this edition of "Live from ESPN" by thanking everybody for reading my blog and commenting on it with encouraging words! It is great that people that I'm 20 hours away from are thinking about me and wishing me the best of luck! All the emails and comments to the blog mean so much to me, and you all can be guaranteed that I won't let my hometowns of Kennett and Senath down!!! I look forward to sharing more of my experiences with everyone!!!!
And that's a wrap on another episode of...."Live from ESPN!!!!"
