"Highlights" of Week 2!
This week was all about the highlights! In five days of work, I cut and edited 4 games for highlight purposes. Each highlight was uniquely different in their own way. When I cut a highlight for one game, I actually have to make anywhere from 1-4 different versions of that highlight due to differences in shows. SportsCenter may want a one minute highlight, but College Football Final might want a 45 second highlight, so you have to learn to watch your longest highlight and then take the best clips from it and condense it to a shorter version. Cutting and editing highlights for ESPN is probably the most tedious work I've ever done, but it's a very rewarding experience when you see your finished product on SportsCenter and it's being described by SportsCenter John Anderson and Kevin Negandhi along with Reese Davis of College Football Live. Oh, and I don't need to forget that former Notre Dame head coach Lou Holtz analyzing my highlight, which was the Iowa-Penn St. game from this past weekend. Yep, I cut and edited a prime time college football game!!! Everyone here is impressed with how fast I'm picking things up and learning their ways of editing at a fast pace. I owe a lot of that to my wonderful professors from the Radio/TV department, who have not only taught me so much but also pushed me to always perform at the highest level. Performing at a high level is what got me here and I'm always going to give my very best! Plus, this is experience is so much fun!! Working for ESPN has to be the coolest job in the World!!
On another note, the cities of Bristol, Rocky Hill (where my apartment is located), and Hartford are great cities to be in! They are just very relaxed and easy-going cities that are filled with plenty of things to go do and see (when you get time, which I haven't had much, but that will come). One cool thing I'm getting to do is experience my first NFL game. I'm going to head up to Foxboro, MA (about 2 hours from here) to see the New England Patriots host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, October 4th!!! I'm so excited and can't wait to get to Gillette Stadium and enjoy the experience of being at an NFL game!! I'll definitely have some cool pictures from that game on my next blog!!
As for now, I'm going to sit back, relax, and enjoy some Monday Night Football!!! That's a wrap for "Live from ESPN, the 2nd Week!" Enjoy watching sports on ESPN's family of networks!! Remember, I might have edited what you're watching!!!!
