Time to Move On
Well, it's Friday and I'm sitting at the DDD Sports Desk for the very last time.
For those of you who don't know, I have accepted a position at ESPN, in Bristol,CT, as a full-time video editor and today (Jan. 14) is my last day as the sports editor.
As many of you already know, I'm a former ESPN intern (Fall 2009) and I'm very excited to get back up there and do what I do best. Being an intern was an experience of a lifetime, so I can only imagine what life is going to be like as a full-time employee!
I have been your sports editor for nine months and I have very much enjoyed being back home to cover all the local teams. Everybody in the local communities have been nothing but supportive of my work and for that I'm very thankful and grateful.
To Bud Hunt, Deanna Coronado and the rest of the DDD staff, THANK YOU for allowing me to be a part of this great staff. It has been a pleasure to work at the DDD and I wish you all nothing but the best. Ever since I informed you all of my departure, you have been nothing but supportive and it's been a pleasure to work here.
To all the coaches, players, parents and fans...I have had a blast covering local sports. All of you have been supportive of my work and have been so kind to me during my time as your sports editor. I wish all the teams the best of luck in the future and I'll always be a fan of sports in Southeast Missouri!
As I leave, someone must come in and take the reigns, and that's Dustin Ward. Dustin graduated from SEMO this past August and went to high school at Bernie. He is very knowledgeable of all that goes on in the sports world around here and I believe that he's the best man for the job. It has been a pleasure to work with him the past couple of weeks and I wish him the best of luck as he continues his career here at the DDD as your new sports editor.
Again, THANK YOU ALL for the support and remember that when you watch ESPN now, just think...you might be watching something that I edited!
