Tribe wins Bootheel opener; Lady Camels edge Lady Lions

STEELE, Mo. -- The Kennett Lady Indians won their second straight game, taking a 25-19, 25-9 win against South Pemiscot here Tuesday.

In other games Tuesday, Campbell defeated Senath-Hornersville, Holcomb defeated North Pemiscot and Gideon defeated Delta C-7.

Kennett (2-1, 1-0 Bootheel Conference) got a strong game from Christina Daily, who served for 12 points in a row to spark a second-set rout.

In junior varsity action, Kennett won in two games to improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Lady Indians travel to Malden today at 4 p.m.

Campbell def. Senath-H'ville

At Hornersville, the Lady Camels improved to 4-1 on the season with an 18-25, 25-22, 25-23 win over the Lady Lions.

Whitney Odle had a team-high seven blocks for Senath-Hornersville (2-2) while adding five kills, while Katelyn Gibson led the Lady Lions with six kills and Alecia Godsey added five kills, four blocks and three aces. Brittany Wyrick also had five blocks.

Both squads are on the road Thursday, as Campbell travels to Gideon and the Lady Lions head to Hayti.

Holcomb def. North Pemiscot

At Holcomb, the Lady Hornets overcame a less-than-stellar effort to move to 3-1 on the season with a 25-17, 25-19 win over the Lady Mustangs.

Holcomb also won the jayvee contest 25-18, 20-25, 25-16.

The Lady Hornets travel to Portageville Thursday, while North Pem hosts South Pemiscot Monday.

Gideon def. Delta C-7

At Deering, the Lady Chargers fell to 1-2 on the season with a 25-15, 25-17 loss to the Lady Bulldogs despite strong games from Leigha and Lindsey Blankenship.

"We had a hard time getting going," Delta coach Stacy Whitfield said.

Gideon also won the junior varsity game 25-19, 25-23.

Delta C-7 hosts Cooter Thursday, while the Lady Bulldogs host Campbell.
