In other volleyball action Thursday, Senath-Hornersville defeated Hayti 25-11, 25-21; Gideon defeated Campbell 26-24, 25-18; and Delta C-7 def. Cooter 13-25, 25-19, 25-18.
Thursday on the baseball diamond, Cooter defeated Holcomb, 10-4, while North Pemiscot downed Campbell, 12-5 and Southland defeated Delta C-7, 11-4.
At Portageville, Moody was dominant in her first game back from an injury.
"Kacey Moody had a huge night on the net," Holcomb coach Gentry Vancil said. "She had block after block after block."
The Lady Hornets (4-1) also got strong games from Laura Watson and Tiffani Weaver, while Vancil was also pleased with her squad's team defense.
Both squads will be at the B.A. Sports Volleyball tournament in Cape Girardeau today and Saturday.
Senath-H'ville def. Hayti
At Hayti, the Lady Lions improved to 1-1 in the Bootheel Conference and 3-2 on the season with a victory over the Lady Indians.
Whitney Odle led the way with 20 assists, Brittany Wyrick added two aces and 16 assists, Kasey Mara dished off 13 assist, while Stephanie Dunivan and Cathryn Chapman finished with 11 assists.
Alecia Godsey added three kills, while Katelyn Gibson had three blocks.
Hayti won the jayvee match 25-23, 25-20.
Gideon def. Campbell
At Gideon, Dani Nelson had 14 kills for the Lady Camels, but Campbell (4-2) could not get past the Lady Bulldogs.
Campbell is at Risco Monday, while Gideon is at the B.A. Sports Volleyball tournament in Cape Girardeau today and Saturday.
Delta C-7 def. Cooter
At Deering, the Lady Chargers overcame a slow start to improve to 2-2 on the season.
Delta got a strong game setting from Kelsey Staggs, while Lindsey Bryant added several kills and Lindsey Blankenship contributed from the service line and with kills.
Cooter won the junior varsity contest 21-25, 25-15, 25-23.
Baseball
Cooter 10, Holcomb 4
At Holcomb, the Wildcats jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the top of the third inning and overcame three errors to improve to 6-2 on the season.
Devon Barger went the distance for Cooter, striking out five while allowing three hits and three walks for the win.
Charles Copeland, Nick Rinks, Jeremy McCaig and Aaron McCaig each had a pair of hits for the Wildcats.
Cameron Branch took the loss for Holcomb (4-6), allowing 11 hit while striking out six and walking two.
Steven McElwrath hit a three-run homer for the Hornets.
