Lady Indians win at Dexter

DEXTER, Mo. -- The Kennett Lady Indians improved to 5-3 on the season with a 6-3 victory over Dexter here Monday.

In area volleyball Monday, Delta C-7 defeated North Pemiscot 25-13, 25-17, while Malden downed Senath-Hornersville 24-26, 29-27, 25-16.

In a baseball game from Friday, Cooter downed Winona, 15-2 at the Preacher Roe Classic in West Plains. Saturday's games at the event were rained out.

At Dexter, the Lady Indians got singles wins from Hanna Lack, Susan Shetley, Christy Doughten and Samantha Brown, while the doubles' teams of Burcham-Shetley and Doughten-Brown also won.

Kennett travels to Sikeston Thursday.

Kennett 6, Dexter 3

Singles

No. 1 Christina Dewrock lost 8-1.

No. 2 Brook Burcham lost 8-1.

No. 3 Hanna Lack won by forfeit.

No. 4 Susan Shetley won 8-1.

No. 5 Christy Doughten won 8-0.

No. 6 Samantha Brown won 8-4.

Doubles

No. 1 Dewrock- Lack lost 8-2.

No. 2 Burcham-Shetley won 8-6.

No. 3 Doughten-Brown 8-3.

Junior Varsity

Kennett 7, Dexter 5

Megan Walker lost 6-2.

Lindsey Pruett lost 6-4.

Melani Snipes won 7-6 (7-3).

Samantha Geary won 7-5.

Mileah Baker won 6-2.

Hope Sparks won 6-4.

Anna Grantham won 6-0.

Whitney Burdin won 6-2.

Doubles

Anna Beth White-Katie Carter lost 6-2.

Vickie Panousis-Yiota Panousis lost by default.

Georgia Hrissikos-Whitney Lowry lost 7-5.

Katie Brisco-Elaine Hoskins won 6-4.

Volleyball

Delta C-7 def. North Pemiscot

At Wardell, the Lady Chargers won their third straight game to improve to 5-6 overall and 4-2 in the Tri-County Conference behind strong games from Kelsey Staggs, Lindsey Blankenship and Blair Blanton.

Delta's jayvee won 26-24, 25-23 behind a strong game from Hannah Bryant.

Malden def. Senath-H'ville

At Malden, the Lady Lions dropped to 3-11-2 on the season and 1-3 in Bootheel Conference play as it lost to the Lady Wave.

In junior varsity action, Senath-Hornersville won 25-13, 25-14.

Baseball

Cooter 9, Winona 2

At West Plains Friday, the Wildcats improved to 16-2 behind a strong pitching performance by Corey Hinklin.

Hinklin gave up four hits and walked two as Cooter played errorless defense behind him.

Hinklin, Jeremy Lambert and Aaron Brown each had two hits for the 'Cats, while Lambert and Hinklin both homered.
