Mustangs rally from 15 down to beat Holcomb; Cooter rallies past Southland

WARDELL, Mo. -- Parker Watkins scored a game-high 20 points as the North Pemiscot Mustangs rallied from a 15-point second-quarter deficit to take a 62-60 win over the Holcomb Hornets in Tri-County Conference action here Monday.

In other games involving Tri-County teams, it was Cooter 68, Southland 55; Risco 80, Delta C7 44; and Campbell 69, Gideon 53.

North Pemiscot (8-9, 5-3 TCC) trailed 27-12 midway through the second quarter before narrowing the gap to seven points at the half.

"I'm really, really proud of the effort the kids (are putting forth)," North Pemiscot coach Jamie Johnson said. "We're playing hard and we keep trying to play hard every night."

The Mustangs then outscored Holcomb (6-12, 3-4) 19-10 in the third quarter to take a 48-46 lead to the final period.

Spencer Bullock paced the Hornets with 15 points, while Steven McElwrath chipped in 13 and Cameron Conder finished with 11.

Grant St. Cin added 14 points for North Pem.

In the jayvee contest, North Pemiscot took a 53-48 win behind 19 points from Britton Wilson, while Bo Smith led the Hornets with 13.

The Mustangs host South Pemiscot tonight, while Holcomb heads to Cooter Wednesday to make up a snowed-out game from last week.

Cooter 68, Southland 55

At Cooter, the host Wildcats outscored the Rebels 26-11 in the final period to pull out the victory.

Southland led 25-21 at the half and 44-42 after three quarters before Cooter (13-6, 6-1) rallied.

Justin Kersey led the Rebels (2-15, 1-7) with a game-high 30 points, while Ronnie Thompson added 12.

Michael Evans led a balanced Cooter attack with 13 points, while Josh Hutton and Nick Rinks each finished with 12.

Southland is at Delta C7 Friday, while the Wildcats head to Clarkton tonight.

Campbell 69, Gideon 53

At Campbell, the Camels got 18 points from Chris Hahn to go to 13-5 on the season and 6-2 in the Tri-County Conference.

Blake Neill added 12 points for Campbell while Sam Bader chipped in 10.

Jordan Boone's 17 points led Gideon (5-15, 3-5) while Travis Miller finished with 12.

Risco 80, Delta C7 44

At Deering, the visiting Tigers canned 13 3-pointers and got 41 points from Ricky Davis to sink the Chargers.

Davis canned eight 3s for Risco (5-13, 4-4) and had 32 points at the half.

Sloan Richardson scored 34 points to pace Delta (0-15, 0-8).
