"Laurel's done a good job for us on the mound," Kennett coach Laurie Vaughan said. "She has all season, although sometimes her record doesn't show it because we face some really tough teams. But she's been consistent all season and that's good to see, especially going into districts next week."
The Lady Tribe (8-8) took advantage of four East Prairie errors to score four unearned runs Thursday.
Kennett took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Scales scored on an error, then added another run later in the inning when Allyson Luce -- who reached on the error that plated Scales -- crossed the plate on Kalee Gore's base hit.
The Lady Indians added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth when Gore came home on a Jordan Wagster groundball, then Kasey Ellis capped the rally by scoring on an error.
"We strive and look at getting on base in any opportunity we can," said Vaughan. "Today we capitalized on their mistakes. We've just got to keep doing that from here on out. Hopefully that'll win us ballgames."
Elizabeth Hively was 2-for-3 at the dish, while Gore was also 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.
