For the second time in as many days, the Lady Tribe couldn't find the back of the net and suffered a 3-0 loss to Perryville-St. Vincent Wednesday at Indian Park.
"We just couldn't seem to get the ball in the goal today," Kennett coach Rick Bell said. "It was just one of those days. We're having a little trouble penetrating like we wanted and it just didn't work out for us."
Kennett (1-3) has managed just one goal in three losses and has scored just one goal in the last seven halves after scoring five goals in the first half against Paragould last week.
Despite its offensive struggles, the Lady Tribe was competitive Wednesday against St. Vincent, trailing 1-0 at the break after giving up a late goal and only allowing a pair of late goals toward the end of the contest to set the final score.
"We played pretty well. Today we changed our defense," said Bell. "We've been playing a 4-3-3 and today we went to a 1-3-3-3 -- it seemed to help a lot. We knew going in that St. Vincent was an undefeated team. He was starting seven seniors off of last year's team."
That St. Vincent was speedy, as was Wednesday's squad.
"They were fast last year and we knew that was going to happen this year, so we changed our defense and had a sweeper in the back," Bell said. "We played them pretty tight especially in the first half. The goal they got there in the first half was really due to some miscommunication with our defense."
Bell was pleased with the performance of freshman keeper Alexandra Brown in Wednesday's loss.
"She turned in a strong game today," said Bell. "She's improving -- you can tell...she has good abilities and her knowledge of the game is improving every day. She looked good."
Despite the loss, Bell remains positive about his squad.
"I thought we played pretty well," Bell said. "We're improving every game and that's encouraging."
