Tuesday's much-anticipated softball showdown between the Senath-Hornersville Lady Lions and Kennett Lady Indians ended up very one-sided.

The Lady Tribe pounded out 13 hits and got another dominating performance from Laurel Scales to roll to an 11-0 victory over Senath-Hornersville at Indian Park.

In other softball action, it was Delta C7 15, North Pemiscot 5; Southland 16, Risco 4; and Holcomb 18, Hayti 3.

In girls' soccer, Kennett downed Paragould, Ark. 1-0 while in baseball, Holcomb was a 16-4 winner over Gideon.

With Tuesday's win and also Monday's win at Portageville, Kennett (3-0, 2-0) has avenged its only losses to conference foes from last season.

"Everyone knows that Senath-Kennett is a big rivalry in every sport," Kennett coach Laurie Vaughan said. "Having lost to them once last year, our girls were pretty fired up to play them today. I presented them with that challenge (to) beat them and beat them pretty sound. They stepped up to it and got the job done.

"In two games we've had 27 hits, only one error and only two strikeouts. That says a lot about the kind of ballteam that we have."

Scales was her usual dominant self, allowing only a second-inning single to Chelsea Damron while striking out six and facing just two batters over the minimum.

"Laurel pitched a great game," said Vaughan. "She used quite a few pitches she's capable of throwing. She was using them all to our advantage."

The Lady Indians also got big games from Ciara Dewrock and Taylor Wake, who were each 3-for-4. Wake scored three runs while Dewrock drove in five runs.

"Ciara has had back-to-back good games," Vaughan said. "She went 3-for-3 against Portagevile and comes back and go 3-for-4 today. She's got a great swing and has really been working on her timing."

Southland 16, Risco 4
The Lady Rebels capitalized on 13 walks to down Tri-County foe Risco on Tuesday.

Candace Bowles was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored, while Brett Higgins scored three times and the trio of Magen Hembrey, Paige Baugh and Becca Bakich each scored twice. Bakich also had a double.

Bakich was the winning pitcher, allowing just one unearned run in four innings of work while striking out two and giving up three hits.

Delta C7 15, North Pemiscot 5
The Lady Chargers got a dominating performance on the mound from Brittany Tidwell to roll to victory Tuesday.

Tidwell tossed a no-hitter, striking out 14 batters and allowing five walks and two earned runs to lead Delta to victory.

The Lady Chargers host Gideon Thursday.

Soccer
Kennett 1, Paragould 0

At Paragould, Ark., Yiota Panousis found the back of the net on a corner kick with 1:02 left in the game to snap a scoreless tie and put the Lady Tribe on its first-ever two-game winning streak.

Panousis' game-winner comes one day after her first hat trick in an 8-0 win against Greene County Tech.

"The whole team's been playing really well lately," Kennett coach Rick Bell said. "We seem to have gotten in the rhythm of the game the last few games. Even during our losses over the weekend in the tournament (at Paragould)...we're playing well right now. We're having fun."

Kennett (3-8) travels to St. Vincent Thursday.

Baseball
Holcomb 16, Gideon 4

Corbin Clark struck out nine batters in just three innings of work as the Hornets rolled past Tri-County rival Gideon.

Michael Casey and Shane McElwrath both homered in Tuesday's win for Holcomb.
