The New Madrid County Central Eagles scored two touchdowns in the game's first 65 seconds and almost totally dominated on both sides of the ball in a 64-7 rout in a Class 3, District 1 contest here Friday night.
"That's exactly what I was going to say," NMCC coach Arlen Pixley said. "Domination -- that's the best way to put it. You talk about dominating efficiency -- you saw it tonight."

"Number one, we had a lot of injuries (Friday)," Kennett coach Kirk Welch said. "We had several kids out there without much experience. At the same time, everybody's got to step up, block and tackle. That's what football boils down to and we didn't do any of it."
NMCC (7-2, 2-0) needed just three plays and 37 seconds to get in the end zone Friday, taking a 6-0 lead on Rodney Anderson's 25-yard run that capped a 66-yard drive.
After the Indians fumbled away the ensuing kickoff, New Madrid needed just four plays to go 30 yards, finding paydirt again on a 21-yard gallop by Bryan Waters with 10:55 left in the opening period. Waters added the two-point conversion to make it 14-0.
"They came out with a lot of energy and took it to us," said Welch of the Eagles. "We weren't ready to play."
NMCC added two more points when Kony Ealy tackled Tevin Hampton in the end zone to make it 16-0 with 5:21 left in the first. After Kennett kicked the ball away, Anderson returned the kick to the Tribe's 17, then ran it in on the next play from scrimmage to make it 24-0 with 4:54 left in the opening period.
The Eagles continued to roll in the second quarter, tacking on 28 more points despite holding the ball for less than two minutes in the period, thanks to short fields and a pair of fumbles.
Waters scored two touchdowns in the second quarter, the second coming on a 39-yard run with 7:13 left in the half to make it 40-0.
Johnathan Conner picked up a Kennett fumble and returned it 35 yards for the TD to make it 46-0 with 5:11 left before halftime, then G'Darius Stevenson added a 16-yard run one minute later to make it 52-0.
The Eagles totally dominated in the first half, racking up 295 yards of offense while holding Kennett to minus-55 yards of offense before the break. Of the Tribe's three first downs before halftime, two came on penalties.
"We took the momentum Sunday in the coaches' meeting," said Pixley. "We do some things defensively that that offense struggles to handle. We're a high-pressure, elemental defense, and we live and die by it. But the bottom line is it's successful against that offense."
NMCC held Blake Parr to a season-low 23 yards passing Friday on 5-of-10 passing and racked up half a dozen sacks for losses of 60 yards.
The Indians finally got in the end zone with 2:02 left in the game when Parr hit Cameron Conder on a five-yard scoring strike to cap a seven-play, 69-yard drive.
Waters led all rushers with 118 yards on just seven carries, while Anderson added 84 yards on six totes, Jamareia Jones racked up 81 yards on four carries and Stevenson finished with 55 yards on six carries.
Kennett will try to end the season on a winning note when it travels to Dexter on Thursday, while the Eagles will host Perryville that night with the winner capturing the district title.
Notes: Both teams played the second half with a continuously running clock and eight-minute quarters. … The Indians have lost four in a row to NMCC, having been outscored 198-41 over that stretch. … A win against Dexter on Thursday would give the Tribe a 7-3 record, the most wins by a Kennett team since 1999 -- coincidentally, the last time that the Indians beat Dexter.
