Cali Living by CBHine ---- California wine
After four years in Southern California, I can tell you that there are few 'deals' to be had here. Most items are much more expensive as compared to Southeast Missouri, but I have found one that I have really enjoyed!
Wine from California is a great value. I have found that most wines here are a minimum of 50% less than back home. For example while I was home recently I bought a bottle Robert Mondovi Red Zen, I think it ran me around $18 or something in that neighborhood. At the local grocery store here in Claremont I am able to buy the same bottle for about $9.
Also living in this area affords us to the availability of some incredible wines. Wineries in California are in general most everywhere. Depending on the type of wine, will determine where that grape is grown. The red zinfandels, which I prefer are mostly grown in the central part of California. Here are some that I have tried and I love. Most are mid to upper mid prices…. Around $12 to $45 bucks locally.
7 Deadly Zins by Michael David Winery $12.99
Bogle Old Vine 2005 $10
Cline Cellars Ancient Vines 2006 $16
Cline Cellars Big Break 2005 $25
All Cline Zins for that matter!!!
Francis Coppola Diamond Series Red 2004 $15
Frog Leap Napa 2005 $22
Greg Norman California Lake Zin 2003 $18
Grigich Hills Estate Napa Zin 2004 ( top 10 of the year) $25
Robert Biale Spenker Vineyard Zin 2002 $50
Any of the Rosenblum Zins priced from $10 up
August Briggs Zin $45
These are just a few. I have also found lots of great cabs if you are interested just email me and I will send you those.
