SoCal wildfires
I woke up this morning to good news and bad news. The good news
is that some of the fires, like in Malibu are somewhat contained......bad news is we have one about 15 miles from here that is 0% contained. The Santiago fire down in Lake Forest/Irvine where my husband David is working is worse today and while we were watching the news this morning he saw his terminal on TV that is how close it is for him. He will be driving back down there today. Until they call for an evacuation anyway. The fires in San Diego are not expected to be under control until Oct 31. I opened the door this morning to let Jackson (my lab) outside; the smell was like a fireplace after something has been burning in it. I will keep him inside since the last time this happen, he nearly died from a respiratory infection. Today (Wednesday) could be the worse day for us; since the air quality is very poor. The fires affect everyone, from San Diego up to Santa Barbara. We are a bit spooked, but praying fervently. I was just told to get all my important papers, as in passports, insurance, birth certificates etc ready to be taken out the door, just in case. You may have seen this last night on Larry King; a man and his family went to bed with the closes fire about 40 miles from their home and they were awaken two hours later and it was in their back yard. The winds seem to be calmer today; we hope they remain that way.
My very good friend, Jo Deck and her son Hampton were just out here to visit this past weekend. They flew back east on Sunday morning, wishing they could stay longer in this beautiful paradise! Ha!! I know they are happy to be back in Kennett Missouri. Keep us in your prayers, all of us. Cindy
