Stormy times...
Got a call that my Dad was ill and I felt I needed to make a quick trip home, so on Monday, January 26th I left LAX airport headed for Memphis. As soon as we took off the pilot announced that our nearly 4 hour trip to Memphis would be quicker today due to a mighty tail wind of 100 miles an hour! He also mentioned that the air was rough and for us to stay seated. Well rough didn't describe that flight to Memphis, but I am here to report the near 4 hour flight was made in 2 hours and 58 minutes from take off to touch down. Later I would discover we had the storm that hit Kennett and the other areas on our tail flying east. I prayed the entire flight, and I feel sure I was not alone. We were rocked all over the sky and it was a happy moment for all when we landed safely.
The devastation that we all awoke to the next morning was just beyond comprehension. Definitely something native Californians cannot understand. I have tried to explain multiply times but the bewildered looks appear letting me know I've lost them somewhere in this tail.
I am back in the LA county area, thankful for the electricity and for sunny skies. Never have I ever appreciated it this much in my entire life. My heart is with those who are still waiting. It is a very, very difficult task to bear. God Bless.
