This will be the final column I’ll write for the DDD.
I have decided to embark on another adventure and will be leaving the newspaper effective October 1.
I can’t possibly express the joy I’ve had as editor of the DDD.
The opportunities it has afforded me are immeasurable.
I have traveled all over the county and met so many wonderful people.
I’ve covered everything from holiday parades and beauty pageants to cancer survivors and of course our pursuit of a hospital.
I’ve interviewed kids and I’ve interviewed governors.
I’ve interviewed just about everybody I ever wanted to and was also able to pay tribute to some of my dear friends upon their passing.
It’s been quite a journey.
To our readers I hope you’ve enjoyed the paper.
It’s a big county and with our small staff it’s near impossible to cover it all, but we definitely tried.
I can’t thank all of you enough for the support you’ve given to the Delta Dunklin Democrat.
To my peers I wish you well and appreciate every bit of help you gave me these past five years.
I’ve made lifelong friends not only here in the office, but throughout the county.
I encourage you to continue to support the DDD. Newspapers are still relevant.
I’ve always urged our citizens to stay informed and get involved with your communities and the DDD is a good place to start.
The paper is a vital source for information on your local officials and area events.
Without your local paper the region would be a news desert and what a shame that would be.
As for me, I’m staying in Kennett. My wife, Holly and I, have come to love our home, neighbors, and community.
I’ve accepted a job in public relations so I’ll still be out and around.
Thank you again.
As my friend Juan would say, Adios.
And as always....
See you out there.
