Area Republicans had an opportunity to hear from their elected officials and keynote speaker, Jason Smith, on Saturday night during the annual Lincoln Day celebration at the Elk Chute Lodge in Gobler.

U.S. Representative Jason Smith shared on a variety of topics including immigration and the “woke” agenda.

“I am fired up about this election,” he stated. “We’re losing our values, our way of life.”

Smith continued, “The liberal left, they want to rewrite what we stand for. They’ve got open borders. They want unbelievable debt.”

“Since Joe Biden has taken the oath of office, ever action he’s done, has created some kind of crisis,” added Smith.

Smith provided, “Think about the border crisis. It was created by Joe Biden. Do not listen to the liberal media that says you can fix it with a bipartisan immigration bill.”

“That bipartisan bill that’s over in the Senate just granted authority to Joe Biden who we can’t trust on this issue,” Smith said. “Without a doubt, I think Joe Biden is the most corrupt, compromised president in the history of this country.”

“That’s a big statement,” he stated.

Smith stressed, “He created the border crisis on his first day, signing an executive order to stop the construction of the border wall and in the next 100 days did 90 more executive orders in immigration.”

“This has led to more people coming into our country his first year in office than all four years combined under President Trump,” said Smith. “There’s been more than 10,000,000 illegals that have crossed the southern border since Joe Biden has taken the oath of office.”

“That’s more than the entire population of the state of Missouri and the state of Delaware combined,” he stated.

Smith also shared on the “woke” agenda.

“Who would have guessed you’d have to fight that men would not play women sports?” he asked. “That’s a real fight.”

Smith continued, “Our president, on Easter Sunday, declared Trans Visibility Day. Think about that. How disgraceful is that?”

“This is what we’re up against this election cycle,” he said. “On election day, it’s going to be Christian Visibility Day when they kick out Joe Biden.”

Other speakers included Aaron Waynick and Nick Darter both running for Dunklin County Sheriff.

The Lincoln Day Banquet is an annual celebration of the Republican Party.

Abraham Lincoln was the first elected president of the Republican Party who helped found and shape the party.
