Dexter couple charged with child abuse

A Dexter couple is behind bars this morning following an investigation into a neglected infant.

According to Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney Briney Welborn, the three month old baby was not being fed adequately and reportedly has Down Syndrome.

The Dexter Police Department arrested two individuals Friday in regard to the investigation.

Amanda Knight Garrett, 20, and Vabian Allen Webb, 18, both of Dexter, were arrested on Stoddard County warrants for the Class C felony of endangering the welfare of a child and the Class C felony of child abuse.

The couple was given no bond and are currently being held in the Stoddard County Jail.

Garrett and Webb will appear for arraignment this Thursday before Judge Joe Z. Satterfield.
