When it comes to murder, everyone knows, "The Butler Did it!" Or did he?
Thursday night, was the opening of the Senath Hornersville High School Drama Club's fall production of Todd Wallinger's, "The Butler Did it!"
With the comedic fortitude of a professional play, these high school students do a great job in keeping the audience entertained. From the very proper butler, Jenkins played by Tristan Nowlin, to the comical antics of the vicar, Father Timothy, played by Montserrat Lejarazu, the acting of these young upstarts is definitely a reason for seeing it.
The story begins with the very proper Jenkins and the fiery maid, Sarah Jane, who are preparing the Covington household for a visit from Edwina Corry, the world's greatest mystery author and friend to Lady Miranda and Colonel Covington.
The manor is filled with other colorful characters including the Covington's daughter Kat, and the very annoying, eavesdropping neighbor, Trevor, who wants to marry their daughter, against her wishes. However, the plot thickens when Trevor ends up murdered in the kitchen. Everyone is a suspect, and Edwina believes she can solve the case before the police arrive, but all eyes are on the butler.
The curtain goes up at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and a Saturday matinee at 2:30 p.m., at the Senath-Hornersville High School Theater. The cost for admissions $4 per ticket, and the proceeds go to support the SHHS Drama Club.
