Fall Into Arts Festival organizers will spend the day getting ready for tonight's opening. Festival volunteers, including a group of Kennett High School students, will be setting up art contest entries inside The Opera House in Kennett. They will also mark off festival booth locations throughout the downtown Courthouse Square.

Festivities get underway tonight at 7 p.m., with the SEMO Little Theatre production of three, one-act plays. The first performance will feature area teens in the youth play, "Superhero Support Group." The second two performances will feature Acts II and III of the Neil Simon stage comedy, "Plaza Suite." The performances will also be staged tomorrow night. They are free and open to the public.

Throughout the weekend, the festival will include a variety of arts, crafts and photography, available for sale and also shown in competition. More than 45 arts, crafts, food and community vendors will participate in this year's event. More than $3,000 will be awarded in prize money.

There will also be activities for all ages, including a kids' zone, bounce house, and the Kennett Jaycees' Second Annual Chili Cook-Off. Live music and dance will be performed on the main stage, throughout the festival. The Kennett Palace Theater will host also the festival's first-ever video contest and mini film festival.

The Dunklin County Museum and Dunklin County Library will also be open to festival goers, and the First Presbyterian Church of Kennett will host its 25th Annual Church Bazaar, just around the corner from the Courthouse Square. The Kennett Farmers' Market will relocate to The Byrd's Nest parking lot for the event. The festival is in its fifth year.
