Kennett High School Alumni and Arkansas State University (ASU) student Keisha Hamlett has been inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Eta Theta Chapter at ASU.
Sigma Theta Tau International is a prestigious organization of leaders and scholars in nursing. The organization's philosophy of membership eligibility is based on the purposes of the society which includes the promotion of learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses who strive to improve healthcare.
In awarding Hamlett membership into the society, the organization encourages, fosters, and actively supports her continued professional development, thus promoting nursing scholarship, leadership, creativity and commitment to nursing.
Membership in the society is awarded to students who posses a baccalaureate or have graduated from higher degree nursing programs and have demonstrated superior academic achievement. Potential members must also meet the society's expectation of academic integrity.
Graduate students must have at least a 3.5 grade point average.
Hamlett, a registered nurse in the Birthcare Center at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark., is currently working toward earning her master of science in nursing degree at Arkansas State University and currently holds a 4.0 grade point average.
By being a member of the prestigious nursing honor society, Hamlett is committing herself to improving the health of the public through advanced nursing science.
