Kennett High School held its annual Awards Assembly on Friday, May 18 in the high school gymnasium to honor those graduating seniors chosen as recipients for various scholarships and awards.
The 2006-2007 awards assembly began with the Joseph C. and Bernice O. Welman Memorial Scholarship, presented by Superintendent of Schools Jerry Noble. The award was presented by Noble to Jonathan Cole.
P.E.O. Awards were presented by CY Chapter president Heather McHaney to Leigh Erin Waddell and HU Chapter president Jean Mowrer to Jarred Joiner. The alternate was recipient was Jessica Collins.
Darren Harris, president of the Kennett Booster Club presented seniors Tanika Parker and Jonathan Percifull with the Kennett Booster Club Scholarship.
April Gray received the First Christian Church Scholarship, presented by Rev. David Everton.
The SEMO Little Theater Terrence Van Hunter Memorial Award for the Performing Arts was presented by Angie Nix and awarded to Josh Pemberton. Samantha Brown was the alternate.
Paula Calhoun presented the Adelphian Civic Club Scholarship to Mindy McElhaney. The alternate was Kelly Carter.
Whitney Patterson was awarded the Ethel R. Huffman Scholarship, presented by the Superintendent of Schools, Jerry Noble.
Fred Calhoun Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Leigh Erin Waddell, presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5443 Commander Phillip Greenway. The first alternate was Kelly Carter and Mandy Newman was second alternate.
Christina Daily was awarded the Xi Delta Phi Chapter Award by president Kathy Faught. Toni Ross was the alternate.
The Delta Omicron Chapter Award was awarded to Leah Brock by past president Joyce Bost. Chelsey Pool was chosen as the alternate.
Tanika Parker was awarded the Lawrence L. Bradley Memorial Scholarship, presented by Jerry Noble.
Principal Ed Siebenhuener presented the Tarkow-Bondeson MU Scholarship to recipient Mandy Jo Temples.
George Panousis presented Claire Watson with the Outstanding Key Club Award.
The Betty Jane Lorance Harrison Memorial Art Award was awarded to Breah McMahon.
Vice-president of the student council Nicholas Jain presented the group's Good Citizen award to Mandy Newman.
Tierra Sherrill was awarded the William N. Miener Memorial Scholarship, presented by Jerry Noble.
Mario McGraw was chosen as the recipient of the Peach Orchard Gin Scholarship.
The Kennett Business and Professional Women's Scholarship was presented by past president Robin Byrd to Mindy McElhaney. Mandy Jo Temples was selected as the alternate.
Kennett Community Teachers Association president Karen Edgington presented her organization's scholarship to Samantha Brown. Jordan Lane was chosen as the alternate.
The Theta Rho of Beta Sigma Phi Award was presented by vice-president Glenda Jain to recipient Leigh Erin Waddell. Christina Dewrock was selected as the alternate.
The Wednesday Music Club Award was given to Josh Pemberton by president Glenda Deeter.
Lauren Smith was awarded the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 13 Scholarship by her father, Captain of the Kennett Police Department, Tony Smith.
The Jeanette Miles Memorial Swimming Scholarship was awarded to Samantha Brown by presenter Malinda Harris.
Ashley Grisham was awarded the Kennett Firefighters Association Scholarship by presenter Justin Stanford, president of the association. April Gray was chosen as the alternate.
The Three Rivers Community College Scholarship was presented by Kathy Ballard and awarded to Chelsey Pool.
Josh Pemberton was awarded the Carl B. McCluney Memorial Scholarship presented by Rev. Gary Carter, pastor of the First United Methodist Church.
Christina Dewrock and Jordan Lane were chosen as the recipients of the Kennett Alumni Scholarship, Inc., presented by Diane Risner.
On behalf of the Kennett Ladies Golf Association, Paula Calhoun awarded a scholarship to Wesley Drope.
President of the Kennett Jaycees, Randy Davis, presented the Fred Calhoun Memorial Scholarship to recipient Brittney Lancaster.
The Jack Burns Excellence In Science Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Jordan Lane by Katie Burns.
DeVry University awarded two scholarships. Steve Coyle of DeVry awarded a Dean's Scholarship to Jarred Joiner, and a Community Scholarship to Jonathan Cole.
Wal-Mart manager Derrick Brentlinger presented James Tidd with the Teacher of the Year Award for 2006-2007.
Principal Ed Siebenhuener presented several scholarships throughout the program including the George Washington Carver Award to Kelly Carter and Leah Brock, the Missouri Southern State, Music and A+ Scholarships to Samantha Brown, the Tanaris Award and George Washington Carver Award to Christina Daily, the Tanaris Award to Christina Dewrock, the George Washington Carver Award to Jordan Lane, the Southeast Missouri State University Missouri Leadership and MAP Textbook Awards to Mindy McElhaney, the Southeast Missouri State University Leadership Award and George Washington Carver Awards to Mandy Newman.
Additional George Washington Carver Awards were presented to Lauren Smith, Zachary Treadway, Brenda Villela, Leigh Erin Waddell Charlyn Watson, and Claire Watson.
A University Of Missouri Rolla- Missouri Miner Scholarship was awarded to Dylan Scherer.
Mark Simmons was awarded a Westminster College Dean's Scholarship.
Melissa Swain was awarded both the Southeast Missouri State University Missouri Leadership award and the MAP Textbook award.
