Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen P. Sokoloff has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA). The NDAA , "the voice of America's prosecutors," is the national professional organization for district and prosecuting attorneys throughout the nation.
"I am pleased and honored that my fellow prosecutors have placed their trust in me, and I will strive to uphold the tradition of excellence that this organization has established over the years," Sokoloff said in response to his election.
The Board, in addition to being the governing body for the Association, also oversees the administration of several subsidiaries, including the American Prosecutors Research Institute, which is a research and development agency that innovates concepts and practices for crime control; The National College of District Attorneys, which is the educational arm of the Association providing training for prosecutors throughout the country; and the National Advocacy Center which is a hands-on, practice oriented training facility on the campus of the University of South Carolina. The College and the NAC train more than 5,000 prosecutors from across the country every year.
Sokoloff has previously served as President of the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, and continues to serve on the Board of Directors of that organization. He is also Vice Chairman of the Missouri Bar Criminal Law Committee. Sokoloff is serving his fifth term as Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney.
He added, "I will continue to try to improve my skills and education in my profession, so that I can effectively advocate for victims of crime in Dunklin County. By my participation in these organizations, I hope to raise the level of effectiveness of my office, and benefit the citizens of our county."
