A Pemiscot County man faces felony charges of assault in the first degree after allegedly attacking a Kennett man in the parking lot of Hardee's on Sunday, June 10.
According to Dunklin County Circuit Court documents filed on Monday, June 11, Montique "Tiki" Jenkins, 30, of 411 Tavern Apartments in Caruthersville, Mo., will appear before Dunklin County Judge John C. Spielman at 1 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2007 for a preliminary hearing regarding the felony case and will be represented in court by public defender Rebecca D. Burke.
Jenkins was arrested by Kennett Police officers after allegedly assaulting Charles E. Kulin, 30, of Kennett, on Sunday in the Hardee's restaurant parking lot off of First Street in Kennett, slicing the victim's throat with an unidentified weapon and physically attacking him. Police have yet to release specific details into the incident or indicate what the motive was behind the crime.
This is not the first felony incident with which Jenkins has been charged.
Judicial documents show that in 1995, Jenkins went before Judge Stephen R. Sharp and pled guilty to two felony charges, including burglary in the first degree as well as assault in the second degree. Jenkins was incarcerated for the 1995 charges and sentenced to six years in prison.
Jenkins will likely appear before Sharp again following his preliminary hearing which will take place in less than two weeks in connection with the recent attack.
Jenkins is currently being held at the Dunklin County Jail in Kennett on a $50,000 bond.
Future details into the case will be released as they come available.
