On Monday the Pemiscot-Dunklin Electric Cooperative held a groundbreaking ceremony for it’s latest venture, bringing fiber optic technology to southeast Missouri.

Many were in attendance for the ceremony which included speakers Jack Davis, System Technology Coordinator, Tim Davis, General Manager, and Jonathan Chambers rom the Conexon company.

Pemiscot-Dunklin Fiber will bring fiber optic Gigabit internet, phone, and HDTV to rural Missouri Bootheel residents.

Since 1938, the PDEC has served the residents of Dunklin, Pemiscot and New Madrid counties.

Their fiber to the home internet service will be 100 times faster than most services available in this area. All with no bandwidth caps.

Pemiscot-Dunklin Fiber will offer a huge selection of cable and local channels, plus DVR and multi-room options in high definition.

The phone service will feature outstanding voice quality including all the extra features customers desire.

“Rural America shouldn’t be left behind,” said Jack Davis.

Jonathan Chambers praised the endeavor and spoke on his respect for general manager, Tim Davis and the work of the cooperative.

“The founding principle of the Co-op is service to others,” stated Chambers.
