SENATH, Mo. -- The Second Annual Pink Ribbon Princess Pageant was a huge success, according to sponsors.

Last year, the very first pageant of its kind brought approximately $2,300, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation. But this year blew last year's competition out of the water, bringing in more than $5,700.

Susan Hamrick and Alesa Lea headed the pageant, which began just over one year ago as a unique idea for a small town.

Between the generous donations, entry fees, donated auction goods, this year's pageant was one for the books, according to its sponsors.

"It is so amazing what people will do for such a good cause," pageant spokesperson Jeana Lewis said. "Even the money for the trophies was donated," she said

This year's Pink Ribbon Princess is Lindsay Atchison, 17, of Senath, daughter of Tonya Atchison and Jim Atchison.

Several princesses and tiny princesses walked away with crowns and trophies, sashes and goody baskets, all of which were donated for the cause.

Pageant coordinators want to send a special "thank you" to Tommy Campbell, who was the pageant MC, introducing each princess, their age, goals, interests, etc.

The pageant was held the first weekend of October, kicking off the start of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
