Dennis Lyle "Denny" Eshleman, 63,of Onarga, Ill., died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at his residence.

Born July 12, 1946, in Kankakee, Ill., son of the late Glenn Le Eshlman and Annadel Marie Reitz, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having esrv from 1969 to 1971. He owned and operated Denny's Sporting Goods for 28 years, enjoyed all school sports which he attended as much as posible, enjoyed many years of coaching baseball, basketball, softball, also enjoyed working at his store and being with his family. Denny was an all around encourager and mentor to many kids.

On April 21, 1973, in Sunnyvale, Calif., he married Margaret Theresa "Terry" Fernandez.

Survivors include his wife, Terry Eshleman, of Onarga; one son, Joe Eshleman, of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Jessica Eshleman, of St. Louis, Mo., and Christine Eshleman, of Onarga; one brother, Roger Eshleman, of Champaign, Ill.; one sister, Glenda Eshleman Raspberry and husban, Quentin, of Kennett; an aunt, Alberta Steiner, of Chrisman, Ill., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Life Church in Gilman, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Life Church in Gilman, Ill., with Jim Harkins officiating.

Burial will follow in the Onarga Cemetery.

Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or the donors choice.
