Gerald Duane Davis, a cherished husband, father, and brother, passed away on August 28, 2024, at the age of 78, while visiting in Montana. Duane was born on October 16, 1945, in Morrilton, Arkansas, son of the late Anual Garland Davis and Ava Lou Davis. ...

Gerald Duane Davis, a cherished husband, father, and brother, passed away on August 28, 2024, at the age of 78, while visiting in Montana. Duane was born on October 16, 1945, in Morrilton, Arkansas, son of the late Anual Garland Davis and Ava Lou Davis. 

Duane graduated from Deering High School in Deering, Mo. Following high school, he attended Arkansas State University and started a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He was soon drafted and proudly served in the US Army stationed in Germany. Upon returning from his service, Duane settled in Poplar Bluff, Mo., where he met and fell in love with his wife, Claudia. The couple’s path crossed while both were employed at Southwestern Bell. They married in 1970. 

In 1973, Duane and Claudia, with daughter Amber, relocated to Dallas, Texas, where they continued to build their life together. Duane had a successful career at AT&T, and after his early retirement, he and Claudia moved to Granbury, Texas. Duane then chose to have a career in trucking. He proudly drove a million miles accident free. He split his time driving and playing golf. After retiring from trucking, Duane and Claudia spent 16 years between Montana in the summers and Texas in the winters. He enjoyed all kinds of sports, loved living and playing golf in De Cordova Bend Estates. He was a fan of all sports, especially golf and NASCAR. 

He is survived by his wife, Claudia, and his daughter Amber (Joe) Bennett. Duane also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including his five brothers, Dewey (Betty) Davis, Loyd (Shirley) Davis, Wendell (Sheryl) Davis, Jack (Shirley K.), and Keith (Trish) Davis; two sisters, Linda Gail Davis, and Rhonda (Robbie) Hamlett; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Davis. 

ln addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by his brother, Dan Davis; his sister, Sally Neel; and two brothers-in-law, Troy Case and Bill Neel.

Duane’s closest-knit relationships with his brothers and sisters were a source of great pride and joy for him.

A Celebration of Life for Duane will be held at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas, Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. The family invites all who knew Duane to join in celebrating his life and the joy he brought to those around him.
