Ola Mae Ann Wright

Ola Mae Ann Wright, 89, daughter of Calvert Dean Sutton and Letha Edith (Bechtel) Sutton, was born August 6, 1928 in Kennett, and went home to her Lord on August 17, 2017 in Lebanon, Mo.

As a child, she grew up on a cotton farm near Kennett and caught grasshoppers and crawdads to go fishing in her spare time. She loved her family and was a dedicated mother, raising her children while working at White Rodgers, from which she retired in 1993. Olamae was an expert seamstress, she crafted ceramics, and her love for reading and library trips is evident in all her children, who inherited this passion. Her cooking was loved by the whole family, especially her chicken and dumplings. She was a Marty Robbins fan.

She is survived by her children, Charles Wright and wife, Becky Marie of Longs, S.C., Barbara Smith and husband, Johnathan of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Lacey Donaldson and husband, Charles of Falcon, Mo.

Her grandchildren are Gina Wright Hawkins of Roanoke, Va., Casey Livingston (Chuckie) Wright of Dayton, Va, Aaron Wright of Nashville, Tenn., Melissa Au of San Antonio, Texas, Rebecca Roa of Spring Hill, Tenn., Sara Sartin of Franklin, Tenn., Johnathan Smith III of Franklin, Tenn., Glen Erik Thor II of Mérida, Yucatán, Dana Thor-Salsman of Woodstock, Ga., and Jeremy Byrd of Manchester, Mo; great-grandchildren Emma Hawkins of Roanoke, Va, Olivia Hawkins of Roanoke, Va, Jessica Pearson of Phoenix, Ariz., Joshua Bush of Tallahassee, Fla, Gabriella Wright of Madison, Miss., Hannah Wright of Nashville, Tenn., Elizabeth Au of San Antonio, Texas, Bethany Au of San Antonio Texas, Tristan Roa of Spring Hill, Tenn., Catalina (Catie) Roa of Spring Hill, Tenn., Wyatt Sartin of Franklin, Tenn., Emma Salsman of Woodstock, Ga, and Anthony Salsman of Woodstock, Ga; and two great-great-grandchildren Carmella Pearson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ryan Pearson of Phoenix, Ariz.

Olamae was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Gina Gay Byrd of Manchester, Mo, survived by her husband, Gary Byrd; two brothers: L.D. Sutton of Hot Springs, Ark., survived by his wife, Evelyn Sutton and Calvert Sutton of Athens, Ala., survived by his wife, Gladys Sutton and preceded in death by his first wife, Liz; and one sister: Helen Cooper of Poplar Bluff, wife of the late Dee Cooper.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m., Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Stanfield Cemetery. Funeral service starts at 2 p.m. with James Powell of the Church of Christ officiating.
