The peach and fruit meeting will once again be held in Malden, Missouri at the Harry L. Crisp Bootheel Education Center on Tuesday, February 28. We will start with dinner and registration at 5:30 pm before beginning the educational portion of the meeting.
This year we will have the pleasure of hearing from two representatives from the State Fruit Experiment Station in Mountain Grove, Missouri. John Avery is a propagation research associate and Dr. Martin Kapps works with pomology and as graduate program coordinator. They will discuss pruning of fruit trees. We will also here from Dr. Elena Garcia, Extension Fruit Specialist with Arkansas State University who will discuss the blueberry industry.
This program is a chance to hear information from fruit specialists as well as network with local growers. If you are starting your own orchard this will provide an opportunity to learn proper practices and ask questions of those with experience. If you have been in the industry and involved with production for a while you will have the chance to talk with fellow growers and encourage new people in the industry.
Please contact the University of Missouri Extension Center at 573-888-4722, to let us know you will be there so that we may have an accurate count for dinner. Dinner will be provided by Strawberry's. We look forward to seeing you there.
