CAPE GIRAREAU, Mo. -- The Kennett Indians baseball team defeated the Cape Central Tigers 7-6 in a consolation semifinal contest at the SEMO Conference baseball tournament Saturday.

Cape Central jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Luke Hinkebein reached base with a leadoff triple and eventually scored on a passed ball.

Kennett took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third when it scored two runs on three hits, one walk and two Cape Central errors. Kennett's Logan Dollins had an RBI-single in the bottom of the third.

Kennett tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Joseph Stillman plated a run with an RBI-double, Daniel Lockhert drove home a run on a sacrifice fly, Dollins collected a two-RBI double and Adam Grantham had an RBI-single in the bottom of the fourth.

Cape Central trimmed the lead to 7-5 in the top of the fifth when it scored four runs on three hits and two Kennett errors. The Tigers' Ramsey Scott drove home a run with an RBI-double in the fifth and Thomas Crocetti had an RBI-single.

Cape Central cut the lead to one in the top of the sixth when Vance Toole plated a run with an RBI-single.

Toole's single was Cape Central's last base hit of the game.

The Indians' Tyson Campbell earned a win on the mound. Campbell allowed five runs, three of which were earned, in 4 1/3 innings pitched. Campbell improved to 3-0 with the win.

The Indians' Ryan Pullin collected an eight-out save. Pullin allowed one run and struck out three. It is Pullin's third save of the season.

Cape Central starting pitcher Aaron Wendel suffered a loss. Wendel allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings pitched.

Ethan Dambach pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief for the Tigers and Hinkebein pitched one inning. The relievers did not allow a run.

Cape Central stranded nine baserunners on the afternoon and committed four errors.

Dollins finished the game 3 for 4 with a team-high three RBIs for Kennett.

Cape Central's Christian Cavaness was 3 for 4 with two singles and a double.

Kennett's Lockhert extended his hitting streak to 19 games with a single in the bottom of the sixth. Lockhert finished 1 for 2 with a sacrifice fly and walk.

Kennett (16-3) will play Sikeston in the consolation championship Monday at 2 p.m. at Capaha Field in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
