Twin Rivers Medical Group has added two new providers to their medical staff.

Allie Massey, PA-C, will be starting a family practice in the clinic located at 1231 First Street.

Massey is a board-certified physician assistant with several years of experience.

Massey was born and raised in the Jonesboro/Paragould area.

“I’ve been interested in the medical field since I was little,” said Massey. “I knew that’s what I wanted to do eventually, I just didn’t know which route I wanted to take.”

“After college I was looking at going into medical school, because it was either doctor or nurse, that’s the perception that I had.”

As Massey gained medical experience she learned of the physician assistant career option.

“I thought it was a good fit for me.”

Massey explains the difference between a physician assistant and doctor.

“The difference is that I have to have a supervising physician, so I will be working alongside a collaborating doctor. Otherwise, I can see patients, prescribe, treat, provide all the same services that any M.D. is able to do. Especially in primary care. There’s a wide range of services and procedures that people can come in and see me for.”

The clinic will also have access to all Twin Rivers Regional Medical services also.

Massey attended Green County Tech High School, Arkansas State University, and went to Harding University for physician assistant school.

“While I do see all ages, I do have a special interest treating kids.”

Massey states she likes to play golf and is in the process of acquiring her pilot’s license.

“I’m looking forward to working with the community, and working together towards better health,” said Massey. “I’m excited to see patients of all ages.”

The clinic hours are Monday and Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Same day appointments are available. Contact at 573-888-8624.

The Twin Rivers Medical Group Walk-In Clinic is also ready to serve the region’s medical needs.

Located at 1312 First Street, the clinic will offer extended hours, no appointment needed, and treat non-life threatening illnesses and injuries, with convenient, walk-in service.

Ashley Jones, PA-C, will be providing care at the new clinic.

Jones is a physician assistant with experience in pediatrics, emergency medicine, primary care, walk-in clinics, orthopedics, as well as employee health and workers compensations.

Jones knew early on she wanted to be in the medical field.

“Age six,” said Jones. “I knew I wanted to be a nurse.

Jones, a native of Moberly, Missouri, received her Associate’s at Moberly Community College, Bachelor’s at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri, and then after working as a nurse for six years, returned to college to obtain her Master’s degree from the University of North Dakota.

“I’ve been working as a P.A. Since 2012,” said Jones.

Jones elaborates on the benefits and convenience of a walk-in clinic.

“The best part about a walk-in clinic, in a small town particularly, is that it is often difficult to be seen quickly. Either your provider is on vacation, or they’re unable to schedule you because they’re booked, or the time that they can get you in doesn’t work because your kid has to go to school, or you have to go to work. The walk-in clinic is much easier.”

Jones continues, “Sprains, lacerations, your child has an earache or a sore throat, or you feel like you have the flu. That’s why we’re here.”

The walk-in clinic also offers sports physicals for school children and work comp injuries as well.

Jones will also help you locate a primary care physician.

“All providers in the area should know, if I see their patient, I’m going to encourage and it’s going in their paperwork at discharge to go back and see your provider and follow up.”

“I’m very excited to be here,” said Jones. “Everybody is so friendly.”

Within the renovation of the walk-in clinic, an outpatient lab draw and EKG is also available. The lab offers another option rather than going to the hospital, and it is available at a reduced cost.

The Walk-In clinic is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Tuesday, Thursday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Contact at 573-888-8624.
