O.A. Juanita “Nita” Bennett was born November 7, 1948, and passed away at home July 24, 2024, peacefully and surrounded by loved ones. She was the daughter of Oliver Winslow Gilliam and Osa Alice Weller Gilliam. Nita married John Bennett, in Kennett, May 29, 1976.

Nita dedicated her life to her husband, children and grandchildren, along with helping raise many nieces, nephews and family friends. She was the peace and glue that held the family together in her strong Christian belief and faith. She was loved by all that knew her and carried a special place in her heart for everyone.

She was proceeded in death by both parents; all 14 brothers and sisters, Al, Earl, WM, Barbara, Loretta, Sue, Rose, Alvin, Edward, Billie Jean, Pat, JL, RL and Little Sister.

She is survived by husband John Bennett of Senath, Mo.; son, John “Tony” Bennett Jr. (wife Tricia Bennett); daughters, Kim Phileman (husband Tony) of Denver Colo., Media Martin (husband Billy) of Kennett, Mo., Christy McDaniel (husband Carl) of Senath, and Brandy Tingle also of Senath; 11 grandchildren; seen great-grandchildren; and so many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at McDaniel Funeral home in Senath on Saturday July the 27, 2024, lead by Nita’s grandson, Airik Torres-Cruz. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until service time. Song service by Gary French, singing “God on the Mountain.”

Pallbearers will be Airik Torres-Cruz, David Bennett, Jimmy Bennett, Mike Bennett, Walter Bennett and Ben Butler. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Gilliam and Leonard Nixon.

There will be fellowship immediately following the graveside service, at the Community Center in Senath.

McDaniel Funeral and Cremation Service of Senath is in charge of arrangements.
