KENNETT, Mo. - Firefighters mourn the loss of a fellow officer and celebrate his accomplishments.
Kennett Fire Dept. Chief Lance Davis posted an announcement to social media about the death and life of Firefighter and paramedic Josh Staley.
Staley died Thursday, Aug. 29, at his home.
He was 34 years old.
Chief Davis posted:
“It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Josh Staley,” Davis wrote. “Josh was a man whose life was dedicated to the service of others.
“Josh wasn’t just a firefighter or a paramedic,” he added. “He was a beacon of hope, a symbol of courage, and a pillar of strength in our community.”
Davis said Staley’s actions saved lives.
“In every emergency, when seconds could mean the difference between life and death, Josh was there—ready, willing, and more than able,” Davis wrote. “He was an outstanding paramedic, a professional who consistently went above and beyond the call of duty.
“His knowledge and skill were second to none,” the chief continued. “But it was his compassion, his deep sense of empathy, that truly set him apart. Josh treated every patient not just as a case, but as a human being deserving of care, dignity, and respect.”
Davis said Staley will be remembered fondly.
“Today, as we mourn the loss of Josh Staley, we also remember the countless lives he touched and the difference he made in this world,” Davis wrote. “His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he saved, the hands he held, and the lives he impacted in ways that words can scarcely capture.
“Though his time with us was tragically cut short, the impact of his life will endure far beyond the years he was given,” he added. “Let us carry forward his spirit of service, his commitment to others, and his unwavering courage. As we say our final goodbyes, let us also celebrate the life of a man who gave everything he had to the service of others, who lived his life with purpose.
Rest in peace, Josh. Your watch has ended, but your legacy will live on in our hearts forever.”
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Powell Funeral Chapel at Kennett.
