MALDEN, Mo. - The Dunklin County Foster Coalition hosted its annual Christmas party for the foster children of Dunklin County.
The event was Sunday, Dec. 8th at Southeast Missouri Community Church (SEMO CC) at Malden.
The event was possible only because of the outpouring of support from more than 50 Southeast Missouri organizations, businesses, and supporters.
This year, 53 foster kids received Christmas gifts or assistance through a variety of means. All of the foster families were able to have a meal which was followed by numerous games being provided for the kids by local organizations and churches.
Once the kids finished playing, they were able to pick out gifts for their family members as well as for themselves from a large selection of toys and clothing items.
The families all received a laundry basket filled with a number of useful items for them to take home.
The support of the community allowed for the foster coalition to provide 33 foster children with the opportunity to participate in the city's Shop With a Hero program.
The other 20 children received gifts through a ministry at SEMO CC called God’s Gifts.
