Kennett man survives moped collision with 18-wheeler, now stable in Memphis hospital

A Kennett man riding a moped who was struck by an 18-wheeler early Saturday is in stable condition at a Memphis hospital, hospital staff said Monday.

Andrew C. Peek, 46, was injured seriously and airlifted to Regional One Medical Center at Memphis, reports stated.

A westbound 2018 Peterbilt operated by Cory C. Kyles, 41, of Kennett struck Peek from the rear as he traveled westbound on US 412 four miles east of Kennett, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper M.R. Freeman.

Hospital staff Monday reported Peek was eating and talking.

The Peterbilt sustained minor damage and Peek’s moped was a total loss, according to reports.
