KENNETT, Mo. - The city council is expected to address several issues at its Tuesday meeting.
After its call to order by Kennett Mator Jake Crafton, invocation, Pledge of Allegiance led by Ward 5 Councilor Bob Young, approving last meeting's minutes, hearing from city department heads and council committee chairs, including Ward 1 Councilor Lisa Dry's Health Insurance Committee, council members are expected to vote regarding the acceptance of a contract between the city and Vector Disease Control, ostensibly for mosquito control within the city limits.
Dry told the DDD on Monday that Crafton formed two new committees at the council's last meeting, one to review the city's health insurance policy, which she chairs, and another aimed at liability and casualty insurance, chaired by Councilor Young.
Dry said one of her first steps is surveying city employees about their concerns regarding the current health insurance policy.
The Ward 1 councilor added that one consideration is entering into talks with cities of similar size about such policies and collecting proposals, "if we see we want to make changes."
"Those are some of our largest expenditures," Dry noted.
Also, councilors will cast votes regarding a stop sign ordinance before moving on to new business, specifics of which are not outlined on Tuesday's agenda.
The public meeting adjourns thereafter, and councilors retire into executive session to discuss hiring, firing, disciplining, or promoting personnel.
The Kennett City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at the council chambers within Kennett City Hall, 200 Cedar St., Kennett.
The public is encouraged to attend.
