POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - Three Rivers College’s Tinnin Center Art Gallery hosts a fine art photography exhibit from KFVS’ Brian Alworth through Feb. 23.
Although born in Twin Falls, Idaho, Alworth spent much of his childhood at New Orleans, where he developed an interest in all things concerning weather - especially thunderstorms and hurricanes.
He moved to the Heartland and KFVS12 in 1988.
In September 2005, he acquired the new and upgraded CBM, Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society.
Brian is a serious outdoor photographer specializing in medium and large-format film photography. He has had several gallery shows over the years, and is a supporting member of the Southeast Missouri Arts Council.
“As an older film shooter, I tend to be very conservative with digital enhancement of my images,” Alworth said. “No AI, no sky replacement, and no Photoshopping.
"I use Lightroom Classic to do a little color and exposure editing," he added. "Mostly to optimize my images for printing.”
Alworth’s exhibit captures the raw beauty of nature through rich colors, striking contrasts, and masterful compositions. The Tinnin Art Gallery is open from 12-3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Admission is free.
