Dunklin County Sheriff Nick Darter reported Friday that his deputies Thursday assisted in a stolen vehicle recovery at Malden.

The vehicle was reported stolen from a local impound lot and believed to be at a residence outside the city limits of Malden in Dunklin County jurisdiction, Darter said.

A Dunklin County deputy who was in the area at the time observed the stolen vehicle traveling west on Dunklin County Road 102.

When the Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, and a vehicle pursuit ensued, Darter noted.

The pursuit continued for several miles before the suspect vehicle exited the roadway and came to a stop, where the driver fled on foot.

With the use of a drone with thermal imaging capabilities, the suspect was located and arrested without incident and transported to the Dunklin County Jail.

The name of the suspect is being withheld pending the filing of formal charges with the Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

The Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Malden Department of Public Safety as well as the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their assistance, Darter said.
