Kennett fire officials confirm that the fatal fire on David Drive, which claimed the life of 74-year-old Lynn McNutt, was accidental. The blaze began in the kitchen, though the exact cause is still unknown.

Following a thorough investigation, it has been determined that the residential fire resulting in the tragic passing of 74-year-old Lynn McNutt was accidental in nature.

According to a Kennett Fire Department press release, at approximately 2:30 am, on Saturday, February 2, KFD responded to a medical call on the 1000 block of David Drive.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered flames visible from the rear of the structure.

The Kennett Fire Department, along with the Missouri State Fire Marshal's office, conducted an investigation.

Investigators concluded that the fire originated in the kitchen area. However, the exact cause remains undetermined at this time.

Kennett Fire Chief Lance Davis stated, “Our thoughts remain with Mrs. McNutt’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We encourage the community to continue practicing fire safety and remain vigilant in their homes.”
