Trail of Tails, a 501 (C)(3) non-profit dedicated to protecting, nurturing, fostering, and networking stray and orphaned animals to forever homes, is hosting a Trivia Night Fundraiser this Saturday.

“Trail of Tails is not a rescue, but we do rescue,” said Judy Conder. “We network with the bigger licensed rescues.”

Conder continued, “We help people find a placement for their animals. We do have a few fosters, however, we need more people who foster.”

“The more people we have foster, the more animals you can save,” she added.

Conder shared, “Trail of Tails actually started in August of 2022. Prior to that we were Kennett Waggin' Tails.”

Since its inception the all-volunteer organization has fostered and placed over 800 animals and transported over 32,000 miles delivering healthy animals to more than twenty licensed rescues.

“Most of our animals come from this area, some from the Senath, Cardwell area, and a few from the Campbell area,” said Conder. “It's all about the animals.”

Conder informed, “We have an excellent board. We have a CPA on board that helps us with our numbers and keeps us on track.”

“We also have a good marketing manager,” she added.

Without a facility, Trail of Tails relies on personal vehicles, foster homes and donations to provide food, medicine, vaccines, surgery and emergency care. They also provide food and shelter for ferals and strays.

“We can't take everybody's animals,” Conder stated. “We set up transports and we also transport. We made two trips this past year 40 miles south of Chicago.”

“We're a non-profit and we need volunteers,” said Conder. “We need support.”

Trail of Tails hopes to garner that support with a Trivia Night fundraiser.

Lucinda Gyurci informed, “This is our first event. It will be fun.”

“With trivia you challenge yourself. You challenge your mind,” said Gyurci. “A few of the categories are dogs and cats, a religious category and we have one category that features all the sciences.”

Gyurci added, “We have one that everybody should be able to participate in. It's called up and down Interstate 55.”

The event will also offer a 50/50 raffle.

“With the 50/50 don't throw away your ticket if it isn't pulled because we're going to have some wonderful door prizes,” Gyurci shared. “We'll also have a silent auction.”

Gyurci continued, “A big plus for us is, if you've gone to the Delta Fair, you may have visited the St. Cecilia food booth. They will provide the food for people before the event.”

Three choices will be offered, three steak tacos and salsa, grilled chicken or beef, cheese and rice, and hot dogs. They ask you to call and place your order in advance.

Dinner will be served from 5pm to 6pm and trivia will start at 6pm. Water and soda will be provided.

Conder stated, “We're going to have a live auction with Matt Mobley as auctioneer.”

“Jeannie Brown handmade a quilt for us,” she added. “She is led by the Holy Spirit to make these quilts. She prays the whole time she makes them and the quilts are soaked in prayer.”

The quilt is queen size double-sided, perfect for fall or spring.

Trail of Tails Trivia night will be held Saturday, February 22 at St. Cecilia Fellowship Hall located at 1226 College Avenue in Kennett.

“It's all about saving animals and it starts here at home,” said Conder.
