KENNETT, Mo. - A National Weather Service meteorologist forecasts warmer weather for the upcoming work week.

KENNETT, Mo. - A National Weather Service Meteorologist calls for warmer weather conditions for the upcoming work week.

But don't reach for sunscreen just yet.

NWS Meteorologist Abby Herdliska expects Monday, Jan. 13 as the coldest day this week with a high of about 34 degrees.

"Then throughout the rest of the week we're calling for moderate weather," Herdliska says. "Tuesday we'll see a high of around 40.

"Wednesday's high dips down to 34 again," she adds. "Then we're getting kind of a warm front with a little bit of rainfall coming in on Friday."

That's a departure from last year's Jan. 14 high of 18 degrees and low of seven.

But the warming trends for the week during both January 2024 and 2025 coincide, although last year's temps were more frigid, with a low of 0 on Sunday Jan. 13, 2024, snowfall on Jan.14 and Jan. 15 with a high at week's end of 64 degrees and fair to partly cloudy skies, according to historic models.

"We're going to warm up to a high of about 45 on Thursday," the meteorologist says. "Friday really will be in the 50s.

"But again, we'll get some rainfall for Friday," Herdliska continues. "Then Saturday again we'll have a high of around 50 degrees."

Sunday temperatures are cooler thanks to a Polar Vortex on the way, the meteorologist says.

"On Sunday we're gonna be pretty cold, and all through next week," Herdliska forecasts. "But this week we're just in a normal January-type situation.

"We are officially into cold weather," she says.
