Ada Louise (Hinson) McHaney, 98, of Kennett, Missouri passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on July 19, 1926, in Lexington, TN, the youngest child of the late Arthur and the late Tennessee Hinson. She spent her childhood in Lexington, TN where she made fond friendships and memories that she cherished all her life. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1944. Upon graduation Mrs. McHaney followed two of her older brothers to Kennett, Missouri. She worked as a legal secretary at McHaney and McHaney Attorneys at Law until she retired in 1959. It was at this time she married her husband, the late Honorable Flake McHaney. They were married for 49 wonderful years.
In addition to devoting her life to her family and husband and their activities, Ada served her community in many ways for many years. She always believed in giving back. Mrs. McHaney was a 74-year member of the philanthropic women's group PEO. Ada was the oldest member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kennett, Missouri. She faithfully served her church and was always eager to give her time and resources. Mrs. McHaney was a long time elder in the church and served as Clerk of the Session for 40 consecutive years. In her later years, she eagerly embraced technology and was an avid texter. She kept in close contact with her family and friends who looked forward to her daily text messages and calls. She also enjoyed Facebook which kept her more connected to those she loved, near and far. Nothing meant more to Ada than her family, church, friends and the greater Kennett community.
She is survived by two sons Patrick Hal (Heather) McHaney of Kennett, MO and James Flake McHaney III of Erie, CO; she was a beloved "Mommy Mac" to three grandsons Sam, Heath, and Jack McHaney of Kennett, MO; several nieces and nephews; and two very special canine friends, her Cockapoos, Sugar and Bandit.
